The First Trailer for ‘Strange New Worlds’ Season 4 Teases a Weird and Scary Galaxy

Strange New Worlds is about to enter its endgame, with all eyes on how it will likely bring about an end to Star Trek‘s current streaming era with its fifth and final season. But before we get there, we’ve still got new adventures to go on… and even though there are teases of some wackiness, it looks like the show is trying to put its game face on for these last few innings.

Today during a panel at CCXP Mexico, Paramount unveiled the first full trailer for Strange New Worlds‘ fourth season, which will begin airing this summer. Much like our first look back at New York Comic Con last year, the overall tone here wants to strike a more serious balance in the Enterprise crew’s new missions, compared to the wildly uneven tone that dogged the show’s very mixed third season. That said, there are still cowboys and dinosaurs in space, and we know puppets are on the way, so your mileage may vary there.

But beyond emphasizing that the Enterprise is going to be doing some big interstellar exploration this season, the other one is this: the show knows that you know that everyone here is running out of time before we hit the original Star Trek, so some people have got to start not being around. And it certainly sounds like some of that might be done through expeditious and not-so-random violence if the “every mission might be our last” talk is to be taken seriously. Strange New Worlds might have 15 episodes to go, but could people start disappearing much sooner, and much more permanently, before it starts giving way to the TOS staples in its cast?

We’ll start finding out soon: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season four will begin streaming on July 23, running new episodes through to late September. In the meantime, check out a few new stills from the season below!
