Craig Mazin’s not the only one taking a trip to Baldur’s Gate 3. Book publisher Penguin Random House is going all-in on Larian’s hit RPG, creating a whole new publishing program that will “bring the game’s immersive world, deep love, and unforgettable characters to the page.”

The big item is a novel all about Astarion, the fan-favorite vampire twink. Written by Snake-Eater author T. Kingfisher, the book is set before the game’s events, back when Astarion was a slave to Cazador Czarr. For those worried about authenticity, Penguin Random House highlighted the book’s consultant Stephen Rooney, a senior writer on Baldur’s Gate 3 who wrote for Astarion’s personal arc. And if that weren’t enough, Neil Newbon’s back to reprise his character for the audiobook.

Joining the Astarion novel are Baldur’s Gate 3-themed cooking and coloring books, plus The Necromancy of Thay. The latter is a blank, grid-paper notebook with an embossed skull cover and inspired by a story-related book in the game. As for the coloring and cooking books, the former has 40 pages of black-and-white line drawings from Jaki King based on characters, locations, and creatures from the game. The cookbook, A Feast for a Tenday, has 65 recipes organized by course and camp location and comes with chapter illustrations and photos of the dishes.

The Necromancy of Thay notebook begins the Baldur’s Gate 3 push on July 21, followed by the coloring book (August 11) and Baldur’s Gate 3: Astarion (September 29), ending with A Feast For a Tenday. Penguin Random House has books planned for 2027, with more info in the months to come.
