Longtime Scooby Doo! fans have their favorite takes on the character, and the Mystery Incorporated series is generally high on that list.
Come August, the animated series hits Blu-Ray for the first time. Through the Warner Bros. Archive, the two-season show has been spread across six discs, with a handul of special features including a collection of promos for the two seasons and commentary from Eddsworld producers Andy Clift and Matt Hargreaves.
Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporarted premiered in 2010 for Cartoon Network and was the franchise’s first cartoon series of the decade. Set during their early days, the Mystery gang solve mysteries in Crystal Cove, which has become a popular tourist spot thanks to being allegedly haunted for ages. Every debunked haunting draws more ire from the town’s adults (including Fred’s father, Fred Sr.) and leads to the gang learning more about Crystal Cove’s secrets.
Unlike previous series, Mystery focused on serialized storytelling and used actual ghosts and monsters since The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo. Speaking of “firsts,” it was also the first time Matthew Lillard voiced Shaggy in animation after previously playing the character for James Gunn’s live-action duology, and Linda Cardellini—who played Velma in those same films—joined this show to voice the character Hot Dog Water. Mystery Incorporated was also famous for homaging or parodying its own legacy and horror films including Nightmare on Elm Street, Eaten Alive, and more.
