The First ‘Evil Dead Burn’ Trailer Welcomes You to a Demonic Family Reunion

There’s never been a dud in the long history of the Evil Dead franchise. Sam Raimi’s original trilogy starring Bruce Campbell started off as a low-budget gamble and became the gold standard for splattery horror comedy. Fede Álvarez’s 2013 take is still one of the better horror reboots. Ash vs Evil Dead was a brilliantly fun TV translation of the show.

And then, when team Evil Dead decided standalone films would be the future of the cult-beloved series, we got the excellent Evil Dead Rise in 2023, directed by Lee Cronin (of Lee Cronin’s The Mummy fame). The winning streak looks to continue with Sébastien Vaniček’s Evil Dead Burn, which just shared its first, very sick, very on-brand trailer.

The official description makes some big promises, and we’re willing to believe in them after watching that killer trailer: “Evil Dead Burn unleashes the franchise’s most savage and terrifying ride to date, blazing onto big screens with an all-new chapter of carnage and demonic mayhem. After the loss of her husband, a woman seeks solace with her in-laws in their secluded family home. As one by one they are transformed into Deadites—turning the gathering into a family reunion from hell—she comes to discover that the vows she took in life… live on even in death.”

The cast features Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part Two, Climax, The Carpenter’s Son), Tandi Wright (Pearl), Hunter Doohan (Daredevil: Born Again, Wednesday), Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent), Errol Shand, Maude Davey, George Pullar, and Greta Van Den Brink.

Evil Dead Burn hits theaters July 10. The next Evil Dead movie, Evil Dead Wrath, is being directed by Francis Galluppi (The Last Stop in Yuma County) and is due in 2028.
