It’s been a full year since Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle was released in theaters in Japan, and 10 months since its record-breaking U.S. theatrical release. That’s a long time for it not to have been available digitally compared to the recent trend of films showing up on streaming almost immediately after their theatrical releases. But good news is finally on the horizon: the film will finally be available to stream on Crunchyroll later this month.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle is the first film in a trilogy that will wrap up the anime’s story. The anime, in turn, is based on the manga of the same name by Koyoharu Gotouge. The story follows Tanjiro, a teenage boy who vows to fight back against the demons that slaughtered his family and turned his sister into a demon. Once he joins the Demon Slayer Corps, he sets about cutting every demon that crosses his path into absolute ribbons.
Infinity Castle takes Tanjiro to the heart of the demons’ stronghold, pitting him against the toughest enemies he’s ever faced. The action and animation, as is typical of the series, are fully out of control, and even when the film drags a bit over its two-and-a-half-hour runtime, it’s still a visual delight. Even Zenitsu isn’t as irritating as usual. It’s a real feat.
The second film in the trilogy is currently in production with no set release date, though fans are hoping for sometime in 2027. In the meantime, you can stream Infinity Castle starting on July 28 at 8:00 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET. It will be available to purchase digitally on that day as well, with digital pre-orders beginning on July 4. Now, if we can just get more Inosuke in the next film, we’ll really be cooking.
