Disneyland Would Like You to Know It’s Got 1 Billion Guests Now

It took over 70 years, but Disneyland in Anaheim, CA has officially reached 1 billion guests in its entire lifetime.

The milestone was reached on Friday, courtesy of young Andres Robles and his parents. The family traveled to the theme park to celebrate his eighth birthday and participated in a brief ceremony, where they helped unveil the sign showing the resort’s updated population. They also got to meet Disney mascots like Mickey Mouse and Donald, and got a VIP tour guide for the day. During the tour, the Robles saw Walt Disney’s apartment and got to go on the recently opened “Soarin’ Across America” attraction.

“Disneyland continues to be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world,” wrote Disney in its celebration post. “Reaching this resort milestone just days before the 71st anniversary shows that Walt Disney’s dream lives on today. Over seven decades, the resort has created magical memories for families from around the world, reinforcing its legacy as The Happiest Place on Earth.”

While Disney’s no stranger to hitting 1 billion in movies, getting to 1 billion guests probably wasn’t easy for Disneyland. Closing down for months during the early times of the COVID-19 pandemic certainly impacted things—and took a toll on staff—even as the company promised to take precautions and ensure a safe return for guests. It wasn’t smooth sailing after the theme parks reopened again: in 2024, ticket prices shot up to then-historic levels, then increased again in late 2025. And this isn’t touching on the very anti-immigration stance and hostility toward international visitors espoused by the U.S. government that Disney’s tried dancing around.

Disneyland will be around forever and probably have billions of more guests before it reaches the big 100…hopefully without more price hikes in the cards.
