Untitled “The Daniels’” Project
World of Reel (via insider @DanielRPK, so take this one with a grain of salt…) alleges Emma Stone is in talks to star alongside Matt Damon in Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan’s upcoming “fun sci-fi action comedy” with “a big heart.”
According to the outlet, the project will be a “superhero tentpole” film based on a recognizable IP with “global warming as the villain.” It’s additionally said to be “set between two timelines — one in the 1980’s and the other in the present day — with the ’80s storyline centered on a group of teenagers.” Damon is said to play “the father” of one of these teens.
If true, the premise sounds suspiciously similar to the 1990 animated series Captain Planet and The Planeteers—prompting this outlet to note that in light of her recent role in Bugonia, Emma Stone would not be a terrible choice to play the “eco-villain” Dr. Barbara Blight—a character whose schemes typically involved either technology run amok or unethical experimentation on animals alongside her AI partner/ implied lover, MAL.
Crank 3
Speaking with Collider at the Indiana Comic Convention, Crank franchise star Amy Smart addressed rumors of a potential third movie, stating enthusiasm “kind of died” over time.
I remember hearing that too, and then it kind of died. I didn’t hear anything more. That was wild, such a wild film. I love where Eve goes in the sequel; she’s like stripping now, with a heart of gold. It was fun. Jason’s so professional, he’s such a badass, and he’s so nice. He was always looking out for me and making sure I was comfortable doing my stunts, too.
Mike Flanagan’s The Exorcist
Filming has officially wrapped on Mike Flanagan’s The Exorcist starring Scarlett Johansson, Diane Lane, Jacobi Jupe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne, Sasha Calle, John Leguizamo, Rahul Kohli, Hamish Linklater, Benjamin Pajak, Carl Lumbly, Carla Gugino, John Gallagher Jr., Gil Bellows, Samantha Sloyan, and Kate Siegel.
Evil Dead Burn
Dread Central reports Evil Dead Burn has been rated “R” for “strong bloody horror violence and gore, and language.”
Lockbox
Carla Gugino and Katharine Isabelle star in the trailer for Lockbox, a horror film based on the Knifepoint Horror Podcast from The Last Exorcism director, Daniel Stamm.
Enola Holmes 3
A second trailer for Enola Holmes 3 is set to an unidentified cover of Billy Idol’s “White Wedding”.
Crystal Lake
Linda Cardellini briefly discussed playing Jason’s mother, Pamela Voorhees, in Crystal Lake during a recent interview with Deadline.
I think [the series is] a mix of things. There are slasher elements and there are dramatic elements. There are funny elements. I think it’s an interesting mixtape of all the things that Brad [Caleb Kane] as a fan wanted to bring to a series, as opposed to a two-hour movie.
I had never played anyone like her and the idea that she is there at the beginning – in the very first movie, she is the original murderer – and the idea that we don’t know much about her, and in knowing something about her you will know more about Jason, I thought was interesting.
[Bill Hader] and I play husband and wife and it’s sort of a psychological horror.
The Doomies
Finally, a pair of teenagers open a portal to hell “transforming their serene coastal town into a hotbed of monstrous activity” in the trailer for the new Disney+ animated series, The Doomies.
