Hasbro has been having a lot of fun with the 40th anniversary of Transformers: The Movie, but at San Diego Comic-Con, things are really getting primed up. The company just announced it will host a “Celebration of Life” concert during the event celebrating the iconic animated film. Plus, among its exclusive toys that’ll be available at the convention is a hilariously perfect crossover with Jem and the Holograms, another classic Hasbro brand from the era.
Here’s how it breaks down. The concert takes place Thursday, July 23, at House of Blues San Diego, which is a short walk from the convention center. It’ll feature performances from Knight of Unicron, a band that formed to do brand new covers for the recently released 40th anniversary soundtrack album, as well as Stan Bush, whose song “The Touch” transcends well beyond Transformers. Oh, and Britta Phillips, the original voice of Jem, will also be bringing some Jem classics to the party.

Then there’s the Jem and the Holograms toy collaboration, which, we have to say, is truly excellent. Hasbro has crossed the Transformers toy brand over with a ton of well-known IP, from Back to the Future to Ghostbusters and more. But this one just hits that camp appeal on a whole new level.
