Toy Story 5 has a friend in the audience who spent their weekend seeing it in theaters.

Per Variety, Pixar’s latest debuted with $160 million in North America. Not only was it on the higher end of projections, it beat The Super Mario Galaxy Movie as the best debut of a 2026 movie to date. That also goes for the whole franchise, a record previously held by Toy Story 4’s $120 million. Combined with its $152 million from international markets, making for a worldwide total of $312 million. Compared to the last two entries—the third opened to $145.3 million, and the fourth to $244.5 million—the franchise’s global upward trend continues.

Like Inside Out 2, Pixar’s been marketing Toy Story 5 pretty strongly these past couple weeks. The toys v. tech angle seems to be landing fairly well with critics and audiences, ditto the decision to make Jessie the film’s emotional core. Both Toy 3 and Toy 4 wound up the highest-grossing movies of their respective years and racked up awards and accolades come Oscars season. Between this and Hoppers from spring, we’ll wait and see which one Disney decides to put more weight behind come nomination time.

Elsewhere, audiences don’t seem to be entirely in love with Disclosure Day. In its second weekend, the Spielberg pic made $17 million in North America, down 62% from its opening salvo. Its current worldwide take is now at $160 million. Meanwhile, Obsession and Backrooms are still extremely successful: in week six, Obsession’s made $333 million worldwide (and now stands at $215 million domestic), and Backrooms hit a flat $300 million (with $175 million from North America).

Next weekend, June comes to an end with Supergirl and Jackass: Best and Last, followed by Minions & Monsters kicking off July.
