Last month, Marvel announced the Midnight universe, which’ll put classic characters in a more horror-tinged setting. Ahead of its September solicits, the publisher shared full covers for the three books and revealed a big change: they’re all dropping on October 7.

The line begins with the previously announced Midnight X-Men from Jonathan Hickman and Matteo Della Fonte, Benjamin Percy and Kev Walker’s Midnight Fantastic Four, and Midnight Spider-Man by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and ScieTronc. All three of them cover different types of horror—the X-Men book is about mutants vs. vampires, Fantastic Four concerns Lovecraftian cosmic horror, and Spider-Man will take Peter Parker on a body-horror trip as a human/spider hybrid fighing Oscorp.

With the Ultimate universe now wrapped up (or close to it), Marvel’s looking at Midnight to be its big new AU. To that end, this trio of books aren’t just getting a simultaneous release, they’re the publisher’s only new singles releasing that day. In its announcement, Marvel called this an “impactful and rare move reflecting the project’s unique scope and potential to grip readers.” Through these comics, it’s hoped that the Midnight universe can bring readers “into a terrifying new world where anything can happen.”

We’ll see how successful that is when Midnight X-Men, Midnight Spider-Man, and Midnight Fantastic all hit shelves on Wednesday, October 7.
