The ‘Evil Dead Burn’ Popcorn Bucket Is Perfectly Unnerving—but You Can’t Actually Buy It

Step aside, The Odyssey—no amount of Trojan horse deception or IMAX geekery can top Evil Dead Burn‘s bid for popcorn bucket supremacy this summer. However, unlike those coveted tie-ins for Christopher Nolan’s new epic, the Evil Dead Burn dishwasher from hell, which invites the snacker to reach across a row of point-up knives to get to the goods, is “only available in our nightmares.”

Still, we appreciate the grim gimmick, which you can see in action here:

We heard your screams. 🔥 Only available in our nightmares.

Get your tickets for #EvilDeadBurn NOW – only in theaters July 10. https://t.co/t6oUYtDGx6 pic.twitter.com/eVBn2mdPU3

And while we initially thought this was coming soon to a theater near you (like the movie itself, out July 10), it seems this is just a promotional item built at the suggestion of horror fans hungering for a macabre tie-in. As Dread Central reports, Warner Bros. and New Line crafted the dishwasher bucket after the Evil Dead Burn trailer revealed the movie’s gruesome lesson on kitchen safety.

“Unfortunately, this isn’t one you’ll be able to take home from the concession stand,” Dread Central reports. “The dishwasher bucket was created strictly as a promotional display piece, inspired by the Evil Dead fandom suggestions.”

Hey, if the studio was open to suggestions before, maybe it will bend to the Deadite-like chants of fiends who’d love to have one of these for their collection. Obviously, with prop knives instead of anything that might actually impale someone being menaced by demons in their own home.

Evil Dead Burn is a standalone franchise entry from director Sébastien Vaniček; it will apply the ghouls and lore from the Sam Raimi-Bruce Campbell horror series to the tale of a recent widow whose attempts to connect with her late husband’s family go diabolically sideways. The movie hits theaters in just a few weeks, and tickets are on sale now.
