Just about the only thing we didn’t like about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ first season was that it was over too soon. We could have watched many more than six episodes of Dunk and Egg getting into trouble at Ashford Meadow. But some of that sadness was helped by the fact that we knew season two was already being filmed. So will the reports that production’s been delayed due to weather mean a delay for the series’ much-anticipated return?
Fortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season two is on HBO’s calendar for 2027, and as of now, there’s no indication that extra time will be required. According to sources who spoke to Polygon, “While weather has forced sporadic suspensions in filming, nothing has impacted the long-term schedule of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ rollout.”

As for that weather delay, it was first documented by Atlántico Hoy, which pointed to a “dramatic rise in water levels following winter rains” that meant the show had to hit pause on production and come up with a backup plan.
“Filming of the scenes planned for the location has been moved to mainland Spain due to the impossibility of continuing with the planned schedule on the Gran Canaria mountain, where part of the set has been submerged.”
Fans who have read George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas know “The Sworn Sword,” which will form the basis of season two, takes place during a significant drought. Here’s hoping the new location keeps things a bit more arid, and filming will soon get back on track.
