Marvel Rivals‘ stylized twists on its host of heroes have enamored us since the game launched a little over a year ago, and at long last someone is finally listening and giving us proper action figures of their designs, rather than leaving us with Funko Pops. And not only are they happening, but they look fantastic—but not in the Reed Richards sense.
Today during a livestream Hasbro finally confirmed that the Marvel Legends “Gamerverse” line would start taking on Rivals with a new series of figures set to land later this year. The initial lineup will feature two deluxe single-carded figures, and two two-packs. So enough to fill up a Rivals team, and the mix of characters even splits nicely among two Vanguards, two Duelists, and two Supports!
Starting off with the single-carded figures, we’re getting releases of Rivals‘ takes on the Punisher and Moon Knight. The big, burly Frank Castle will come with both his shotgun and his assault rifle, as well as gunfire FX, alternate hands, and an extra head, depicting him snarling mid-combat. Marc, meanwhile, comes with two billy clubs and two crescent darts (but alas, no spectral ankh to replicate his truly most annoying ability to deal with) and even an alternate swappable cape that replicates the crescent glide form it has in the game.
The two-packs, meanwhile, spread out the support options amongst two spider-stars. Spider-Man himself will come with icy healing songstress Luna Snow—Peter comes with just two alternate hands (one splayed, and one thwipping), while Luna gets the bulk of the accessories. Not only does she have an extra set of swappable hands (a pair of fists and a pair of splayed power-casting hands), she also has an ice snowflake she can be posed with, and an alternate headsculpt with her giving a Marvel-Legends-first cute wink.
Meanwhile, the other set puts together an unlikely tag team: Venom and Jeff the Land Shark! Alas, Jeff is more of a statue than an articulated figure, although his head can tilt, and he comes with an alternate face for different expressions and even has a separate little accessory to depict him adorably swimming underground. But Venom is the real highlight here: Eddie and his bonded pal have a swappable head with, of course, his tongue out, and an alternate set of splayed hands, as well as little strands of symbiote across his back that can be tweaked for poses.
Hopefully this is just the start of things for Marvel Legends’ dalliance with Rivals—if only because by the time these come out this fall, even more heroes will have joined the games’ roster. There are so many characters to choose from; it’s only up and up from here, but let me be a selfish Support main for a moment and ask if we can get Invisible Woman, Cloak and Dagger, and Gambit next, please?
Preorders for the Marvel Legends Rivals Punisher and Moon Knight will go live at Hasbro Pulse and other online storefronts April 22 at 1 p.m. ET. The Venom and Jeff set will go up for preorder on April 29, while Luna Snow and Spider-Man will follow up on May 13.
