‘Andor’ Star Adria Arjona Is Joining ‘Man of Tomorrow’—But Maybe Not as Who You Thought

Sometimes, rumors turn out to be true. Andor star Adria Arjona is indeed joining the DC Universe, landing in a role in Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow. However, she may not be playing the character the internet was certain she was testing for (Maxima)—nor the other DC role (Wonder Woman) many have speculated she’d be perfect for in the past.

However, details are so thin at this point that anything is probably possible. The Hollywood Reporter says that “James Gunn has found the final piece of his Man of Tomorrow casting puzzle. After several rounds of screen tests, Adria Arjona has been chosen for the mystery role in DC Studios’ sequel to Superman. It was previously reported that the character was comic anti-heroine Maxima, but it’s unknown if that is correct.”

DC had no comment for the trade, but if THR got it wrong, expect Gunn to speak up with haste. The writer-director and studio co-head took to social media to debunk an earlier round of casting rumors—which included Arjona’s name—which were then followed up by another trade report suggesting new potential stars, with Arjona being the only duplicate.

So it makes sense that Arjona, who first worked with Gunn on 2017’s The Belko Experiment, would end up on top. What role she’ll be playing, however, remains to be seen. We do know that David Corenswet will be back as Superman, as will Nicolas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

We’ll also meet Lars Eidinger’s Brainiac and see the return of Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Guy Gardner (Nathon Fillion), and Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific). Aaron Pierre, soon to be seen as John Stewart in HBO’s Lanterns, will also appear.

Man of Tomorrow opens July 9, 2027, so there’s plenty of time to speculate more about Arjona’s character. Having seen what she brings to the screen in Andor, we’re looking forward to whoever she plays in the movie. It’ll be a step up from Morbius no matter what.
