Prime Video made two big Invincible announcements at its Annecy International Animation Film Festival panel this week: Jack Quaid will be joining the cast as the voice of Gravitator in season five, and the show has already been renewed for season six. Cue the “Mark, this is good news!” memes.

The Prime Video animated series, based on Robert Kirkman’s comics of the same name, just wrapped up its fourth season in April, which was its most-watched season to date, according to a press release. The show follows Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), aka Invincible, a teenager who gains superpowers that render him nigh-indestructible, as he struggles to just be a teenager while battling terrestrial and extraterrestrial foes, including his father, Nolan (J.K. Simmons), aka Omni-Man.

While Quaid’s character, Gravitator, won’t be introduced until season five, we know from the comics that he is a thief and a gifted engineer who turns his life around after a chance encounter with Invincible. Attendees at Annecy were treated to an exclusive video clip of Gravitator, but the rest of us will have to settle for just an image.

According to Deadline, Kirkman said about the series, “One of the biggest rewards of building Invincible over the years has been witnessing how new audiences continue to connect with these characters and this world, almost 25 years after its creation. This renewal is as much a testament to the passion of our fans as it is to the talented teams bringing the series to life, including longtime supervising directors Shaun O’Neill and Dan Duncan, who have done so much behind the scenes to make Invincible a success, and will now help us continue to grow as executive producers. There’s still so much story left to tell, and I can’t wait for fans to see what’s ahead in seasons five, six, and beyond.”

Invincible season five is set to premiere sometime in 2027.
