The Brutalist director Brady Corbet is working on a new occult project. Evil Dead Burn is arriving a little sooner than expected. Plus, a Sinners star joins The Last of Us season 3. To me, my spoilers!

FernGully: The Last Rainforest

Deadline reports a live-action remake of FernGully: The Last Rainforest is now in development at Amazon MGM Studios with Marielle Heller (Nightbitch) attached to write and direct.

Avengers: Doomsday

According to Deadline, Kathryn Newton will reprise her role as Cassie Lang in Avengers: Doomsday.

Hexed

Deadline also reports Hailee Steinfeld and Rashida Jones will lend their voices to Disney’s new animated feature, Hexed. The story concerns “a teenager (Steinfeld) and her Type-A mom (Jones) as they discover that what makes her unusual might just be magical powers that will turn their lives and a secret world of magic, upside down.”

Sentinel

Additionally, Deadline reports Steve Zahn will star in Sentinel, a “deep-space sci-fi thriller” concerning “an engineer trapped in a drifting escape pod who must uncover who is sabotaging his chances of survival before his oxygen runs out.” Rick Gomez (who played Endless Mike on The Adventures of Pete & Pete) is attached to direct.

Untitled Brady Corbet Project

Appearing as a guest at the Light House Cinema (via Deadline), The Brutalist director Brady Corbet revealed his next project is a collaboration with Mitch Horowitz chronicling “the history of the occult in America” with a script over 200 pages long.

My new film is a film that is sort of about American mysticism and the history of the occult in America and I’ve been reading tons and tons of material about the migration of the cultist belief systems and structures. I’ve started working with this fascinating guy called Mitch Horowitz, who is an occultist historian of America.

Evil Dead Burn

Evil Dead Burn will now release in theaters two weeks earlier than expected this July 10, 2026. [Bloody-Disgusting]

Blood Witch

Burnt at the stake centuries ago, a mother-daughter pair of witches are resurrected in the present to take revenge on the descendants of their tormentors in the trailer for Blood Witch.

The Last of Us

Variety also reports Li Jun Li (Sinners) has joined the third season of The Last of Us as Miriam, “a Seraphite and the mother of Lev (Michelle Mao) and Yara (Kyriana Kratter).”

American Horror Story

According to Deadline, Joey Pollari (American Crime) has joined the cast of American Horror Story‘s thirteenth season in a currently undisclosed role.

Spiral

Lee Cronin revealed to Variety he’s developing a folk-horror TV series called Spiral in addition to a found-footage movie and a slasher set in Aruba.

We’ve got a television show that we are in full partnership with Blumhouse and Atomic Monster on, which I created with Glenn Montgomery. It’s called Spiral and it’s set in 1980s Ireland and dripping in folklore, repression and the strangeness of the Irish countryside. We’ve also got a found-footage movie that we’re producing, and a slasher movie with two brothers from Aruba, which is a really, really interesting and a different approach to the slasher genre. So we are looking at new talent and also established talent as well, and just looking for really interesting stories that can plant flags in exciting places within the genre.

The Boys

Soldier Boy fields a few questions while A-Train is further memorialized in two new videos from Vought International.

Ghosts

Finally, CBS has released a trailer for “The Investor,” this week’s new episode of Ghosts.
