You Won’t Have to Wait Long to Visit Universal’s Latest Theme Park

It’s only been a year since Universal Studios opened its most recent theme park, and this summer, it’s doing it again. As the celebration of the one-year anniversary of Epic Universe in Orlando, Florida, continues, we now know that the Universal Kids Resort outside of Dallas, Texas, will officially open to guests on July 1.

Unlike Epic Universe, though, Universal Kids Resort is, as the name states, for kids. The attractions are aimed at guests ages 3-8, according to Bloomberg. That means no big, fast, or scary Mummy, Fast and Furious, or Harry Potter roller coasters here. It is, however, still Universal, so you can still expect lots of big-name IP in the park, such as Shrek, SpongeBob SquarePants, Minions, Jurassic World, Trolls, and Puss in Boots. You can get breakdowns of all the rides and themed areas at this link, but we’re guessing there won’t be any Velociraptors or T-Rexes in that Jurassic area.

Located in Frisco, Texas, the park isn’t exactly massive. It’s only about 20 acres, which, when compared to the three Universal Studios Orlando parks, each of which is a little over 100 acres, isn’t much. So it might not be a place you go and spend a week. But a day or two, if your kids are into those characters? That seems like a win.

The kid-centric theme is the first of its kind for Universal, but certainly not for theme parks in general. Legolands across the world are all generally aimed at younger audiences, too, for example. That doesn’t mean older fans can’t enjoy them, but, you know, you probably can’t get a beer or go on a ride that’ll scare you. It might, however, scare your four-year-old, which will get them excited to go to larger theme parks in the future. And that’s what it’s all about.

With the opening of the park just about a month away, Universal has started selling tickets and hotel reservations for the area, and you can get all the info on the official website. Is this something you’ll be checking out?
