You Can Watch Some of the Opening of ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ on Disney+ Right Now

With The Mandalorian and Grogu just weeks away now, Lucasfilm and Disney are mining the film’s explosive opening action sequence for all its worth—after showing it off at CinemaCon last month, and preparing to showcase it to fans at special IMAX teaser screenings for Star Wars Day, a trimmed-down tease of the near-20-minute sequence is now streaming online for all to see.

If you have a Disney+ subscription, that is. It’s the home of The Mandalorian, after all!

Titled The Mandalorian and Grogu: A Special Look, the near-four-minute clip is viewable from the homepage of Disney+ today and offers a condensed highlights reel of the film’s opening sequence, following Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young ward Grogu as they battle Imperial Remnant forces on an ice world.

It’s a sequence we have, in part, been hearing about for years, with bits of it shown all the way back at D23 2024, and then at Star Wars Celebration Japan in 2025, before its recent extended showcases, first to press and movie industry members at CinemaCon last month and then to fans today. The Disney+ version is pretty much all killer, no filler action: after a brief introductory text, we get to see Din lay waste to an entire AT-AT walker’s complement of Snowtroopers, before casually blowing it up and moving on to take down a second as he hunts an escaping Warlord (played by Hemky Madera, making a brief return from The Mandalorian season 3).

We even get to see the film’s toyetic homage to the classic Kenner minirig vehicle, the INT-4 Interceptor, now fashioned almost like a little escape pod, before both it and the remaining AT-AT meet their fiery ends as Din and Grogu make their escape back to a U-Wing, piloted by none other than Star Wars Rebels‘ Zeb Orellios (the returning Steve Blum). And that’s it!

It’s a pretty interesting way to get people intrigued, especially with Lucasfilm and Disney focusing a lot of the final stretch of the film’s marketing on this broader sequence. We’ll have to wait just a few more weeks to see what else the film has in store beyond these frozen wastes, though, when The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters May 22.
