Deadline reports Deadwood‘s Keith Carradine is the latest to join the cast of J.T. Mollner’s mysterious “creature horror film”, Skeletons, in a undisclosed role. At present, the film stars Brie Larson, Kyle Gallner, Willa Fitzgerald, Ione Skye, John Goodman, and Daithí Ó Haragáin.
Vigilant
According to Deadline, The Purge‘s James DeMonaco is attached to direct the similar Vigilant, in which ordinary citizens are financially incentivized to become crime-fighting vigilantes. Smith following “a young pilot who, together with a military survivalist, has carved out an efficient but isolated homestead in a brutal post-apocalyptic world until a mysterious radio transmission spurs them to venture into the unknown in search of the hope and humanity he still believes exists.”
Ferine
Elsewhere, Carolyn Bracken plays an art collector undergoing an “animalistic transformation” that causes her to cross paths with “a lavishly wealthy trafficker of exotic predator animals” in the trailer for Ferine, a film by Andrea Corsini boasting an original score by Pino Donaggio. Caroline Goodall, Paola Lavini and Elisabetta Caccamo co-star.
Far Cry
Deadline reports Steve Buscemi has joined the cast of Noah Hawley and Rob Mac’s Far Cry television series at FX in a currently undisclosed role. While “each season” of the new series plans to follow the video games’ “signature standalone storytelling format,” details regarding which game or storyline the first plans to cover is additionally unknown at this time.
Shifter
Deadline also has word Severance‘s Adam Scott, Ezra Claytan Daniels, and Eli Jorné are developing a series based on Koren Shadmi’s graphic novel Shifter at Hulu. “Set in the near-future,” the story concerns “a banned cosmetic procedure” that “lets people change their faces on the fly, creating a new underground industry of Shifters, who can become anyone they want, for any purpose you can imagine, for a fee. Rose is making a name for herself as one of the best, but the more she gives to her gigs, the more she risks losing herself.”
Doctor Who
As CEO Tom Fussell told Deadline, BBC Studios “will be bidding to become the next producer” of Doctor Who “with gusto” when “the tender process kickstarts later this year.” In the words of Fussell, “We’ve been the producer for 60 years and we want to be the producer for another 60 years so we will be going for that tender with gusto. We are in it to win it.”

Finally, Entertainment Weekly has our first look at Below, a new series at Netflix following “a grizzled fisherman who must fight to protect his family and his community when a mysterious sea creature terrorizes a remote Newfoundland town.” Josh Hartnett, Charlie Heaton, Mackenzie Davis, Rohan Campbell, Ruby Stokes, Kaleb Horn, and Willow Kean are attached to star.
