It’s been so long since news first broke that Matt Reeves was returning to Gotham City for The Batman Part II, the last few days have been oddly surreal. After years of only the teeniest, tiniest updates, Reeves has been actively using his social media to break news and tease fans, especially as production draws nearer. That all started with a snowy Batmobile photo, continued with a nearly six-hour marathon of returning cast reveals, and on Thursday, the news kept coming.

Reeves began his day by putting up a post on X officially confirming news that broke back in December: Scarlett Johansson is joining The Batman Part II.

Unfortunately, Reeves’ post does not tell us who, specifically, Johansson is playing in the film. Speculation can continue, as it has for the past six months.

As expected, Reeves then continued. He later announced casting that was first revealed in January. Sebastian Stan is in The Batman Part II.

Considering Reeves posted six cast members on Wednesday (Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred, Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, Gil Perez-Abraham as Officer Martinez, and Jamie Lawson as Bella Real) we guessed it wasn’t over yet. And it wasn’t.

Later, he revealed that Game of Thrones star Charles Dance is joining the film. That’s news that only broke a month ago.

Reeves still wasn’t done. Next up, he dropped a new piece of casting that no Hollywood trade or fan site knew about. It’s actor Sebastian Koch, best known for the film The Lives of Others and the show Homeland. Again, it’s unclear who he is playing.

What’s that? You want more brand new The Batman Part II casting news? How about Brian Tyree Henry, star of Atlanta and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Reeves announced him next.

Welcome to the party, man… 🦇🦇 pic.twitter.com/9ESphamrCI

As usual, there’s no indication of who he’s playing, but “Welcome to the party, man” sure sounds like a Joker reference. “Party Man” was a Prince song Joker played in the original Tim Burton Batman.

At this point, almost every person we’ve heard about has been revealed so far, with one exception: Barry Keoghan. Is he next?

No, he is not. Reeves signed off about six hours after starting with a final goodbye.

See you all in Gotham… soon. 🦇🦇 pic.twitter.com/0xkp1usPVN

The Batman Part II starts filming soon and hits theaters on October 1, 2027.

This post was updated multiple times after initial publication with subsequent posts from Reeves.
