Radio Silence Is Making a ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ Movie

Good thing there are two directors in Radio Silence, because their to-do list keeps getting longer. Their much-anticipated reboot of the Brendan Fraser Mummy franchise is coming in October 2027, and they’ve just announced a Choose Your Own Adventure adaptation will be on the way after.

Exactly how a film will replicate the experience of reading one of the interactive adventure books remains to be seen. Black Mirror: Bandersnatch pulled it off rather well, but that was a Netflix production that allowed viewers to click and select different plots to follow as the story progressed. (Black Mirror‘s take mirrored the books so closely, Netflix faced a legal challenge from the publisher of the Choose Your Own Adventure series.)

Deadline got the scoop on Radio Silence joining the new feature, which has a script from Tom Bissell. His varied credits include several video game scripts, including entries in Gears of War and Uncharted; co-writing The Disaster Artist, the book about the making of cult classic The Room that was later adapted into an Oscar-nominated screenplay; and writing the final three episodes of Star Wars series Andor.

With Radio Silence on directing duties, you have to wonder if their horror tendencies (they made Scream, Scream VI, Abigail, and the Ready or Not movies) will come into play here. Choose Your Own Adventure is technically a book series aimed at kids, but it’s been around since 1979 and has become a pop cultural phenomenon beloved by generations at this point.

So far there are no plot details, so you won’t be able to flip to the end to decide if you’ve picked the right path or not. Are you excited for a big-screen Choose Your Own Adventure?
