Real-world politics might not inspire many pleasant thoughts at the moment, but at least our new favorite fictional president is getting another term. At today’s San Diego Comic-Con for the Rick and Morty spinoff President Curtis, fans learned the show is already in production on season two.

Or make those prospective fans. President Curtis hasn’t even premiered yet! Its first episode arrives July 26 after the season nine finale of Rick and Morty.

Having seen all 10 episodes of the first season—read io9’s review here!—we feel confident that President Curtis won’t have any problem finding its audience, and the quick renewal certainly speaks to Adult Swim’s enthusiasm for the show. It stars Keith David as the title character, who is no ordinary POTUS.

He’s been shifted a bit from the image-conscious blowhard seen on Rick and Morty; on President Curtis, he’s a flawed but fearless guy you definitely want to root for, which is a good thing because his main job is protecting America from all kinds of monsters.

He has help in this from his support team, which includes Agent O’Doyle (Jim Rash), who happens to be half-leprechaun, and his chief of staff, Banks (Stephanie Beatriz), who happens to have a robot brain.

The show was co-created by Dan Harmon and James Siciliano.

“President Curtis quickly proved himself worthy of another term!” Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim, said in a press release. “With Keith David’s inimitably endearing performance and the creativity of Dan, James, and the entire show team, this series and this president are what the people need more of—even if they don’t know it yet.”

Check out season one of President Curtis when it premieres Sunday, July 26 on Adult Swim, and the next day on HBO Max. Season two is now in production.
