In the years since he faded to nothing from a single kiss, Star Wars has gradually fleshed out Kylo Ren. Or rather, a single writer has—Charles Soule, with the help of art teams led by Will Sliney and Luke Ross, have explored how Ben Solo fell and took charge of the Knights of Ren and his early days as Supreme Leader of the First Order. Now, with the character’s solo movie as gone as he is, Lucasfilm is continuing the Ren train with yet another comic.

Later this year, Soule and Sliney will team again for The Fall of Kylo Ren, a five-issue miniseries set before RIse of Skywalker. Set after the Legacy of Vader comic, Ren comes back to the First Order and finds that Generals Hux and Pryde have “torn it apart with treacherous ambition.” Like Sith masters before him, Kylo intends to put both men in their place and create a stronger First Order through everyone’s fear of him.

“This is the one book I’ve been dying to get back on,” Sliney said in a statement to IGN. “Ever since Charles and I worked on The Rise of Kylo Ren, we knew we were a part of something special. I’ve never experienced a fan gorup so excited for the story when we worked on Rise, and quietly behind the scenes, we’d been talking about Fall for a long, long time.”

“Kylo’s story (and Ben Solo’s, of course) always felt huge to me,” continued Soule. “I’m thrilled I get to deliver new tales for one of Star Wars’ most prominent villains one more time. It was clear that a great deal was out there to explore beyond the moments provided by the films, and it’s been such a pleasure.” In his newsletter, he teased the comic would “bring Kylo to where he is when we see him in Rise of Skywalker’s opening scene. [Legacy] gave him clarity, and even a bit of happiness. Fall is the final piece of the puzzle.”

Look for Star Wars: The Fall of Kylo Ren to hit shelves beginning August 12.
