Jalapenos, eggs, potato chips, frozen pizza, and even dog food have been recalled in the U.S. recently over concerns about Salmonella. And now we can add granola to the list.

The Hampton Grocers of Montauk, New York, is recalling eight-ounce packages of Lacnola Lactation Granola, a food that’s specifically marketed to women who are breastfeeding. The granola is made with moringa, oats, almonds, and dairy-free chocolate chips and billed as a way to “nourish and boost milk supply” in lactating mothers.

Lacnola Lactation Granola was being sold by Amazon and other online retailers, including the Hampton Grocer website, between October 21, 2025, and August 12th, 2026, according to an announcement from the FDA. The recall has been initiated over the moringa powder, a product that has seen several recalls this year. No illnesses have yet been reported from the granola.

Consumers who’ve purchased Lacnola Lactation Granola are encouraged to dispose of the product and contact the business where it was purchased for a refund. Anyone with questions about the recall can call 201-820-8789 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, though only Tuesday through Thursday.

If you feel like there have been a large number of food recalls lately, it’s not just your imagination. Other large Salmonella-related recalls have involved over 19 million eggs, jalapeno peppers in 27 states, and Oma’s Pride dog food.

There was also a powdered milk recall in April that affected a surprisingly wide range of products containing the ingredient. The recall eventually swept up alfredo sauce, Utz’s Dirty and Zapp’s potato chips, Ghirardelli chocolate, and numerous brands of frozen pizza, among other products.

There have also been other food recalls that have nothing to do with Salmonella. Amy’s Kitchen soup was recalled last month over a spoilage risk. Simply Nature Spinach Bites, sold at Aldi locations on the East Coast, were also recalled over potential rodent hair. And Morningstar Farms recalled many of its fake meat products over the presence of plastic pieces.

And then there’s the diarrhea-causing parasite, cyclosporiasis, which has infected the nation’s lettuce. There have been at least 13,895 lab-confirmed cases since May, which means there are likely many more times that in the general population. The so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) made major cuts last year to the team at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in charge of responding to cyclosporiasis, according to a report from Wired. The team went from 11 people to just three.

Last year, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) also saw a 40% spike in complaints about meat, egg, and poultry products. The agency received 2,016 complaints, the highest number since the Consumer Complaint Monitoring System was created 25 years ago. Foreign objects were the most common type of complaint. The largest spike before 2025 was 2019, also in the middle of President Donald Trump’s first term.

Sure, all of our food might be poison. But at least DOGE didn’t actually save Americans money in the grand scheme of things.
