Worry not: Your first-generation Pixel Watch can still sync with Google Health. Following reports from some smartwatch owners on Reddit that Google Health was warning them that their Pixel Watch would no longer sync health data, Google has shared that the message was sent in error. Provided your Pixel Watch is running at least Wear OS 4, you can continue importing data to your heart’s content.

“To clear up the recent confusion: the Pixel Watch 1 remains fully supported,” Google Community Manager Stefanie Frederick shared in a post. “We had a bug where some users received this card incorrectly. Thanks for raising this, it has now been resolved.”

The error message warned some Pixel Watch owners that because their device was “running an older version of Wear OS,” it would soon “stop syncing sleep and workout data with Google Health” if it wasn’t updated. Normally that kind of notification would be a good reminder to check for a software update, but since Google officially stopped guaranteeing software updates for the first-generation Pixel Watch back in October 2025, it could have effectively meant the smartwatch would soon lose a core part of its functionality.

While Google promises seven years of updates for its flagship smartphones like the Pixel 11, the company has consistently only offered three years of updates on its smartwatches. The last major update the Pixel Watch received was in October 2025, according to 9to5Google. While it certainly seems like the company plans for the Pixel Watch to be usable for at least a good while longer, if you’re worried about support, you should consider upgrading. The new Pixel Watch 5 will be available August 21, and Google’s support page says the smartwatch will receive software updates through October 2029.
