Born Again’ Won’t Undo Its Huge Season 2 Reveal

The season two finale of Daredevil: Born Again was crazy. So much stuff happened that you would not be surprised if, when the show comes back for season three, it found a way to undo one or two things. However, in a new interview, star Charlie Cox explains that in terms of at least one major reveal in that final episode, it will not be changed.

The episode has been out for a few weeks, but just in case you haven’t seen it yet, here’s your final warning.

In the season two finale of Daredevil: Born Again, Matt Murdock is forced to let the world in on his biggest secret: He’s Daredevil. Yes, the blind lawyer from Hell’s Kitchen blows his secret identity in order to catch Kingpin at his own game. And it kind of works.

For fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the move certainly brought to mind Tony Stark revealing he’s Iron Man in the very first Iron Man. We probably also remember that more recently, a similar situation was dealt with in Spider-Man: No Way Home, as Doctor Strange made everyone forget who Peter Parker was, protecting his identity.

So, could Daredevil: Born Again go with some multiverse madness? Not a chance, said Cox. “I’m all for big and bold,” Cox told Empire. “That’s a very difficult thing to put back in the box in our show. It’s been done in the comics, but the kind of show that we make has a kind of grounded element to it. It’s hopefully as much based in reality as any of the Marvel projects are, and it’s a harder thing to wind back. The powers-that-be said, ‘Yeah, we understand that.’ Fine, great.”

Not that it’s going to matter, necessarily. Matt should be in prison by the time season three comes around—though set photos have caught him back on the mean streets of New York. We wonder how that happens and how people will treat him now that they know who he is.

Daredevil: Born Again season three does not yet have a release date, but seasons one and two are streaming on Disney+.
