As excited as audiences are for James Gunn’s DC Universe to continue this June with Supergirl, there is one character in there that is slightly more anticipated than others. A character who, unlike Supergirl, has never appeared in a live-action film. Someone most fans probably thought was almost impossible to bring to the big screen. We’re talking, of course, about Lobo.
For years, Hollywood has tried to bring Lobo to the big screen, and on June 26, it’s finally happening. And who better than Jason Momoa to embody the wisecracking, killer bounty hunter? We’ve seen him in the film’s trailers, but now, thanks to Hot Toys, we can see Lobo in all his glory. Plus, he’s got all the weapons, chains, and attitude you’d expect. Here are some photos:
According to Hot Toys, “this figure features a newly developed head sculpt with detailed skin texture, movie-accurate makeup, and separate rolling eyeballs to recreate his intense, wild expressions. His mid-length black wavy hairstyle is intricately sculpted, completed with strands of braids. To perfectly capture Lobo’s imposing physique, the newly developed muscular body stands approximately 33 cm tall and features silicone arms with a seamless joint design, showcasing his raw, intimidating strength.”
That’s his body, but what about his clothes? “Lobo’s multi-layered costume includes a brown sleeveless coat with bendable wire for dynamic posing, and a highly detailed black genuine leather material motorcycle vest adorned with silver spikes, gold buttons, and printed graphic details. His biker look is completed with a skull-buckle belt featuring real metal chains, fabric pants, multiple skull-themed armor pieces, and spiked shoes,” according to Hot Toys.
But will he be able to hurt people, you’re wondering? “Of course, the Main Man is armed to the teeth,” Hot Toys explains. “The figure includes his iconic chained hook with a real metal chain, brass knuckles, and a large knuckle for close-quarters brawling. Rounding out the set is a rabbit’s foot accessory, multiple interchangeable gloved hands, and a specially designed figure base with a backdrop to set the perfect display.”
We’ve got to admit, he looks pretty badass. You can see more images on Hot Toys’ site or its Facebook page. As of publication, the figure was not yet available to pre-order on Sideshow, but that should change soon.
