‘Ahsoka’ Season 2 Won’t Arrive Until 2027

The second season of Ahsoka is coming, but just a little later than you may have hoped. Star Rosario Dawson announced on Tuesday that the Star Wars show will debut on Disney+ early in 2027.

Season one of the show ended in late 2023, and filming on season two was completed late last year. That led fans to believe we’d get to see the show sometime in 2026 but, alas, that’s not happening.

What is happening, according to series creator and Lucasfilm president Dave Filoni, is that Admiral Ackbar is returning. “He’s going head-to-head with [Grand Admiral] Thrawn,” Filoni said.

“This season, the battles are bigger, and the stakes are higher,” Dawson also said. Which makes sense. Season one of the show ended with Thrawn, played by Lars Mikkelsen, making his way back to the main Star Wars galaxy with would-be Jedi Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi) in tow. Ezra then met up with Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) to warn her and the New Republic of Thrawn’s return. Let the battle against the Imperial Remnant begin.

Meanwhile Ahsoka was left in another galaxy on Peridea, along with her apprentice Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), as well as the evil Baylan Skoll (now played by Rory McCann, taking over for the late Ray Stevenson) and Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno). Baylan was doing something mysterious with the Force, and Ahsoka and Sabine have to get to the bottom of it. And, presumably, they’d like to get home too.

Just going off the first season, those two setups leave the door open for a lot of battles between good and evil. Here’s hoping that the over three-year wait between seasons will be worth it.

So, to recap, 2026 will bring one new Star Wars project: The Mandalorian and Grogu. Then, in 2027, we’ll first get Ahsoka season two, followed by a re-release of the original Star Wars, and then Star Wars: Starfighter.
