Supergirl didn’t exactly set critics or the box office on fire—hey, we can’t all be Spider-Man—but there’s still plenty to enjoy about Craig Gillespie’s movie, including Milly Alcock’s fierce performance as Kara Zor-El and Jason Momoa’s sheer Momoa-ness as Lobo. Though the movie’s been on digital for a few months now, its streaming homecoming arrives next week, just days after its September 8 physical release.

You can judge for yourself if Supergirl was unfairly dismissed when it arrives on HBO Max starting Thursday, September 10. It hits HBO linear starting Saturday, September 12, at 8 p.m. ET. After you finish watching, you can stay on HBO Max to watch Alcock upend the status quo in Westeros as House of the Dragon‘s young Rhaenyra—or you can catch up on DC’s current streaming series, Lanterns, for more superhero action.

“Headstrong, worldly-wise, and often reckless, Supergirl exudes a brand of heroism all her own—truthful, relatable, and always on her own terms,” reads Warner Bros.’ official synopsis. “But when an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion. Together they undertake an epic, interstellar journey, struggling to balance one’s need for vengeance with the pursuit of justice—and to save the life of Kara’s best friend, her dog Krypto. Ultimately Supergirl will prove that doing good can be tough… and it doesn’t always have to be nice.”

The screenplay by Ana Nogueira is based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Gillespie directed, with DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran producing. Along with Alcock and Momoa, the cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, and Emily Beecham—plus David Corenswet dropping by as Kara’s cousin, Superman.

You can also watch Supergirl on HBO Max in its American Sign Language version, performed by Catalene Sacchetti and directed by Jonaz McMillan.
