Kumail Nanjiani’s werewolf movie lands at Orion. A self-published romantasy novel is on track to become a series at Hulu. Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Digger confirmed to run nearly three hours long. Clayface to include camera work inspired by Sam Raimi and Brian De Palma. Curtain’s… going… d o w n. It’s Morning Spoilers!

Ghost Rider

According to a new rumor from insider Jeff Sneider (via Dread Central), Rosamund Pike is in talks to join the MCU’s Ghost Rider as “the female lead and romantic interest” of Ryan Gosling’s still unspecified version of the character.

Pathetic Fallacy

Deadline reports Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi, Jessica Rothe, Travis Fimmel, and Natasha Lyonne have wrapped filming on Pathetic Fallacy, a “supernatural horror” film from director Adam Egypt Mortimer. Described as “a psychedelic tale of love, death and loss, shot on 35mm” the story follows “a young widower to a new-age mountain town in search of cosmic answers and a chance to heal. When he arrives, he instead finds an outlandish murderer and a forest of demonic spirits who offer a horrific bargain: the power to cheat death at a nightmarish cost.”

Howl

According to Deadline, Orion Pictures has acquired the rights to Howl, a horror-comedy about werewolves directed by Kumail Nanjiani. Starring Nanjiani himself, the story follows “a famous but notoriously troubled actor who announces on a talk show that in less than an hour, he’ll turn into a werewolf — on live TV.”

Fast Forever

In conversation with Polygon, Louis Leterrier admitted he no longer knows whether he’s still attached to direct Fast Forever.

Not currently because I’m finishing another movie, but yeah. This franchise will have an ending. They built a ride! They have to finish it. Someone has to end it.

When asked if he too has read the “best script in decades” Vin Diesel gushed about over the weekend, Letterier remained evasive, stating:

Well, uh, I’d love to tell you the full truth, but I can’t. There will be an ending, and it’s great. I was very, very lucky to be part of the franchise, and I love Vin and I love Universal. They’re great to work with. So yeah. We’ll see, hopefully.

Digger

According to both Film Crave and Odeon Cinemas, Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Digger starring Tom Cruise runs 2 hours and 40 minutes long.

Clayface

During a recent interview with Empire, Clayface director James Watkins revealed the film includes sequences inspired by Sam Raimi, Brian De Palma, and Martin Scorsese.

There were definitely some Sam Raimi influences. The way Sam Raimi can push horror almost to that point of ridiculousness, right? And humor. I mean ridiculous in a good way, right? But pushing it where we’re all walking that line of, ‘Oh man, this is extreme,’ and we know it’s extreme, and we’re in it together. The boldness of what he does, a couple of Sam Raimi sequences, as it were. The other person for me that’s probably the massive inspiration is Brian De Palma. Okay? Probably a less obvious one. How he creates his mise-en-scène, how he uses the camera. Rob Hardy in the cinematographer, brillian cinematographer, and I spend a lot of time looking at a lot of [Martin] Scorsese.

Haunted Heist

In the trailer for Haunted Heist, a group of friends planning to rob a mansion discover its owners—a pair of ghosts from the 1950’s—never left. “Trapped by the spirits planning a demonic sacrifice, the friends must battle supernatural terror to survive the night.” The film stars Tiffany Haddish, Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor, Karlous Miller, Rel Howery, Ari Dayan, and Brett Gelman.

The Poison Daughter

Deadline has word a TV series based on Sheila Masterson‘s self-published “romantasy” novel, The Poison Daughter, is now in development at Hulu and 20th Century Studios. In the story, “every person Harlow Carrenwell kisses dies immediately, and that’s the way she likes it. The poison-lipped youngest daughter of Lunameade’s magical founding family has used her power to annihilate their opposition. Until one night Harlow kisses a mark and he doesn’t die. Worse, her invincible partner in passion is her new betrothed, Henry Havenwood, and now he knows about her double life.” The outlet reports Masterson is “set to executive produce the adaptation” herself, which is now “looking for a writer.”
