Putting a Bluetooth speaker inside another gadget is a tradition that feels time-honored at this point. There are Bluetooth speaker robots, Bluetooth speaker tables, Bluetooth speaker picture frames—hell, even this nightstand/safe decided to cram a Bluetooth speaker inside because having a safe in your nightstand just wasn’t enough. Just because it’s common doesn’t mean that it’s done well, though. Oftentimes, audio can feel like an afterthought when it’s being shoved inside another gadget—a pitfall that La-Z-Boy seems intent on not falling victim to.

In its AudioLuxe series, La-Z-Boy is cramming a Bluetooth speaker inside a recliner and sofa so you can play audio through your phone or another device straight from the place where your butt also is. It’s not just cramming in any Bluetooth speaker; La-Z-Boy is partnering with hi-fi audio brand Klipsch to integrate speakers and a subwoofer. Naturally, since this is most likely furniture you’d have in your living room, the AudioLuxe recliner also keeps home theater in mind. According to La-Z-Boy, the furniture can be paired with the Klipsch Flexus Sound System (Klipsch’s home theater system) to enable 5.1.2 surround sound with Dolby Atmos.

If you have an AudioLuxe sofa and a recliner and you want everyone’s butt to experience hi-fi audio, La-Z-Boy and Klipsch have apparently thought of that, too. The whole line has Auracast, which means you can broadcast the same audio to each seat simultaneously. Every piece also has its own command center for controlling audio, too, so you can manually adjust volume and input.

One thing we don’t have yet, however, is a price, but I assume since it’s furniture—nay, furniture with hi-fi speakers built in—that it won’t come cheap. I mean, hey, no one ever said relaxing was cheap, at least not if blasting hi-fi audio in and around your cheeks is your idea of relaxation.
