Danone USA has issued a recall of So Delicious Dairy Free brand frozen dessert pints, according to a new notice from the FDA. The ice cream-like dessert has been contaminated with small stones and “other hard objects,” according to the recall notice.

The recall impacts the Salted Caramel Cluster flavor with best-by dates on or before April 3, 2028. Other varieties are not involved, according to the FDA.

The small stones and “other hard objects” were identified through consumer complaints, though it’s unclear what the other hard objects may entail. The notice suggests the hard objects may have been included with the cashews in the product. Danone USA didn’t immediately respond to questions emailed Wednesday morning.

The company is reportedly working with retailers to get the product off shelves and new So Delicious products now being shipped to stores aren’t affected by the recall.

Consumers who have the product in their freezers are encouraged to contact the So Delicious Dairy Free contact line at 1-833-367-8975 to obtain a coupon for a replacement or get a refund. The phone line is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. ET. Consumers are also able to contact the company through a form on its website.

It’s been a particularly bad year for Americans who eat food. There really has been an uptick in foodborne illness this year, with tens of thousands of cases identified by the FDA and CDC, including 19,883 people with lab-confirmed cases of cyclospora infection tied to lettuce from Taylor Farms. At least 1,064 of those people have been hospitalized in that outbreak and two died.

Other major recalls in recent months have involved 19 million eggs, jalapenos sold in 27 states, and soup sold nationwide. A significant recall on powdered milk this year affected a wide array of products that used it as an ingredient, including potato chips, frozen pizza, and granola just to name a few.

There were a number of recalls involving foreign objects found in food this past summer, including bread rolls with glass, plant-based chicken nuggets with plastic, sourdough bread with metal, popsicles with glass, along with baked spaghetti and chicken cobbler meals with metal slivers.

Many of the nation’s problems with food at the moment can be traced back to incompetence by President Donald Trump and his Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The CDC’s Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network (FoodNet) drastically scaled back monitoring for several pathogens on July 1, including cyclosporiasis.

As Wired notes, the Trump regime cut roughly $12 billion in grants for state health departments in 2025. And FDA inspections of foreign food that’s imported into the U.S. has plummeted 29% since 2024, according to CBS News.

In 2025, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) experienced a 40% jump in complaints about meat, egg, and poultry products in 2025, which was the largest rise in a quarter of a century. The most common complaint was about foreign objects in the food. Statistics for 2026 haven’t been released yet.
