Exciting things are on the horizon for Honor phone users, as the company has just unveiled MagicOS 9.0, a major upgrade to its operating system.
This free update takes things to a new level with what Honor calls an “all-scenario personalised AI operating system”, which should power the upcoming Magic 7 series.
A new AI assistant
The big star of this upgrade is the newly enhanced Yoyo AI Agent. Previously a smart assistant, Yoyo has now evolved into an AI Agent capable of handling more complex tasks with greater autonomy.
The idea is that Yoyo can interpret your commands with an improved understanding of context, preferences, and habits.
For example, you could ask Yoyo to order your usual coffee from your favourite café, and it will handle the entire process from ordering to payment, without you lifting a finger.
Honor
System-level large language models
Another significant addition to MagicOS 9.0 is the introduction of the MagicLM line-up, a family of large language models (LLMs). These models enhance the AI capabilities of the system by improving interactions across multiple modes, whether that’s text, visuals, or audio.
Unlike many AI systems that are confined to specific apps, MagicLM is embedded at the system level. This allows for more natural interactions across various functions of your phone.
However, one of the most notable aspects of MagicOS 9.0 is Honor’s commitment to an open AI ecosystem. Unlike closed systems, which restrict AI functionality to their own applications, MagicOS 9.0 allows Yoyo to operate across third-party apps.
Improved security
Security is also getting a boost in the MagicOS 9.0 update.
With deepfakes becoming a growing concern, MagicOS 9.0 introduces what Honor claims is the industry’s first AI Deepfake Detection feature. This tool is designed to help users spot and avoid scams, adding an extra layer of protection to your digital life.
Other features and availability
Besides that, MagicOS 9.0 also brings features like Magic Portal, which allows you to access text and images with a simple gesture, while Magic Capsule now covers a wider range of scenarios, including travel and gaming.
Honor
Although at this point Honor hasn’t revealed which phones from the brand will receive the update, we highly expect, as mentioned, that the upcoming Honor Magic 7 series to be first in line.
Besides, models such as the Magic V3, Magic 6 RSR, and Magic 6 Pro should also get access to MagicOS 9.0.
Overall, whether you’re using one of the above models or one of the other best Honor phones, you’ll want to keep an eye out for the rollout of MagicOS 9.0 and get ready to experience the future of AI on your device.
