As the psychic Elise Rainier, Lin Shaye has long served as the emotional heart of the Insidious franchise, guiding its various characters through emotional and spiritual turmoil. Apparently, it’s a role she played in real life, too, when the franchise’s future was in jeopardy.
According to Variety, at some point during the development of Insidious: Out of the Further , the series’ sixth and most recent installment, Sony canceled the film and pulled it from the release schedule. Shaye, however, had a pretty succinct response to that news: “Fuck this.”
