Why You Should Buy It at Walmart and Nowhere Else?

The Nintendo Switch 2 is getting closer to make its grand entrance and for fans looking to lay hands on one, knowing the precise where and when of the preorder is most important. After an initial announcement that preorders would go live on April 9th, Nintendo had to delay the release due to new tariff policies. And then the new date: preorders become available at midnight Eastern Time on April 24, 2025 (12:00 a.m. ET) or 9:00 p.m. Pacific Time on April 23.

Of all the stores, Walmart is probably the best place to preorder the Switch 2. Contrary to what most other stores offer, Walmart has a very promising deal: free and guaranteed delivery as early as 9 a.m. local time on launch day, June 5, to those who preorder by June 4 at 8 a.m. ET. This means that instead of waiting in lines for hours or take a chance with delayed shipping, customers can wake up on the day of launch with their new console in hand already.

What You Will Get

The Switch 2 itself includes everything that the players would want, and a little extra. The package contains the console, Joy-Con 2 controllers (left and right), Joy-Con 2 Grip and Straps, Nintendo Switch 2 Dock, ultra high-speed HDMI cable, AC adapter, and USB-C charging cable.

Nintendo offers two purchase options (on Walmart or anywhere else): the standard Switch 2 console for $449.99 and a Mario Kart World bundle for $499.99. This bundle includes the console along with the popular Mario Kart World game (it can also be bought separately for $79.99, but you get it for $50 if you go for the bundle).

The April 24 pre-order date (instead of the originally scheduled preorder date of April 9) was a bit disappointing to fans worldwide but it was unavoidable due to the tariffs applied by the Trump administration and the impact this would have on prices and supplies. Nintendo has assured fans that the June 5 release date remains and the first stock is reserved. Demand should be very strong, and there should be little supply, so it is very important to pre-order your Switch 2 early and not miss out.

Walmart’s guaranteed 9 a.m. launch day delivery is absolutely fantastic: The deal is worth it considering the predicted surge and potential stock shortages. Best Buy and Target will also be launching preorders at midnight ET on April 24 but Walmart’s delivery guarantee offers unparalleled security. For gamers who want in on the chance of avoiding last-minute purchases or truncated shipping dates, Walmart is a safe bet.
