Samsung released a lot of new products last year but when is the next Unpacked event and what will launch?
The brand’s biggest launches of 2024 were flagship Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 foldables, and of course wearable devices like the Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch Ultra and Galaxy Ring.
However, Samsung’s focus is now fully on 2025 launches, such as the Galaxy S25 series, which is expected to be launched at the just-announced first Unpacked event of the year.
Here’s everything we know about this event and what is expected to be announced there.
When does Samsung usually hold events?
Samsung is known for its grand unveilings of new products, often through high-profile Galaxy Unpacked events. These typically occur a couple of times a year, with high-end phones, tablets and smartwatches usually on the agenda.
Historically, Samsung has followed a regular schedule, with Unpacked events taking place at two key moments in the year:
- January/February: typically, the Galaxy S phones
- July/August: typically, the Galaxy Z foldables, Galaxy Tab S tablets and Galaxy Watch smartwatches
However, the Galaxy Tab S10 series was unveiled in September 2024, rather than at the beginning of the year like the Tab S8 series in 2022 or at the summer event like the Tab S9 in 2023, so this is not a fixed pattern.
When will the next Samsung event take place?
In an official blog post, Samsung has confirmed that its next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on 22 January 2025.
Check out the teaser video below.
What will Samsung announce at its next event?
Samsung has now confirmed the next Galaxy Unpacked event, teasing the announcements of what seems to be as many as four new phones.
Galaxy S25 series
Samsung is set to launch its Galaxy S25 series in early 2025, featuring the standard Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and the high-end Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, these devices are expected to offer superior performance and improved power efficiency, a departure from the mixed chipsets used in the Galaxy S24 series.
The Ultra model is anticipated to feature upgraded ultrawide and telephoto camera sensors, while modest design tweaks and enhancements to AI capabilities, particularly through the Bixby assistant, are expected across the range.
Android Headlines
A rounder body design and Qi2 wireless charging may also debut, bringing Samsung closer to Apple’s magnetic charging ecosystem.
Galaxy S25 Slim
Samsung might also introduce the Galaxy S25 Slim, a remarkably thin version of its flagship, possibly matching the 200Mp main camera of the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Rumours suggest this device could launch either alongside the S25 series or at a separate event later in 2025.
Galaxy Z Flip FE
Rumours about more affordable Samsung foldables have circulated for some time. Last year, there was speculation about a Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE, which was expected to launch alongside Samsung’s flagship foldable devices and potentially appear in 2024 or at the 2025 Unpacked event.
While talk of a cheaper Galaxy Z Fold has diminished, attention has shifted to another budget-friendly option. Reports suggest Samsung may be working on a Galaxy Z Flip FE, aimed at providing a less expensive alternative to its flagship foldable flip phone.

Specific details about the Galaxy Z Flip FE are scarce, but it’s rumoured to debut in 2025, likely later in the year rather than at the January Unpacked event. Despite the lack of concrete information, the possibility of this new model remains an intriguing prospect.
One UI 7
One certainty for the Unpacked 2025 event is the debut of Samsung’s One UI 7 interface, set to launch alongside the Galaxy S25 series. Built on Android 15, this long-awaited software update is expected to be showcased, particularly if it introduces significant new features.
A beta version of One UI 7 was released in December, accessible to Galaxy S24 users. The beta includes advanced writing assistance tools, expanding on features introduced with Galaxy AI last January, as well as support for call transcripts in multiple languages and enhanced security upgrades.

Additionally, the lock screen has been revamped with the inclusion of the ‘Now bar,’ feature which provides live updates reminiscent of Apple’s Dynamic Island feature. These updates hint at a more refined and feature-rich interface to accompany Samsung’s upcoming devices.
Galaxy Ring 2
Samsung’s first smart ring was released in July 2024, making a sequel seem unlikely just yet. However, rumours suggest the Galaxy Ring 2 could arrive earlier than initially expected.
Samsung introduced the first Galaxy Ring during the Unpacked 2024 event, so there’s a chance the company might use the upcoming Unpacked 2025 to preview an update, especially if it ties into new health tracking features.

Speculation about the Galaxy Ring 2 points to a slimmer design, improved battery life, and as-yet-unknown capabilities, which could make it an intriguing addition to Samsung’s lineup whenever it debuts.
Galaxy XR headset and more
At Unpacked 2023, Qualcomm, Google, and Samsung announced a partnership to develop a mixed-reality platform, hinting at hardware like a headset. While initial plans aimed for a 2024 release, the launch was postponed to 2025.
With 2025 now here, Samsung’s mixed-reality ambitions are taking shape following Google’s unveiling of the Android XR platform, designed to support new headsets and smart glasses.
Samsung has confirmed that its upcoming headset, codenamed Project Moohan, will be the first device to run on Android XR and is set to launch this year, suggesting it could be previewed at Galaxy Unpacked.
That’s all we expect to see at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. It will certainly bring some great flagship devices.
