After so many films and series exploited the theme of blood-sucking monsters, it takes some guts to make a vampire movie. We’ve seen it all: the gothic Interview with the Vampire, YA productions Twilight, the gory True Blood and the art house Only Lovers Left Alive. It felt like pop culture had drained the vampire story for good.
Robert Eggers, however, decided to return to the vampire genre’s roots. For his latest movie, he chose to remake Nosferatu – Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau’s 1922 silent film and an unauthorised adaptation of Dracula by Bram Stoker. Eggers, the creator of dark period dramas with a horror spin, such as The Witch, Lighthouse and The Northman, seemed the right person for such a task. To accomplish it, he assembled a unique cast that included Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, Willem Dafoe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Emma Corrin.
Robert Eggers’s film is naturally best seen in the cinema. However, if you already want to know when Nosferatu may visit your home, continue reading our guide.
How to watch Nosferatu now
Currently, the horror is available exclusively in cinemas.
In the US, tickets are available, for example, on AMC Theatres.
In the UK, you can secure your seats via Vue, Showcase, Odeon or Cineworld websites.
Here’s the trailer for the film:
When could Nosferatu be released on VOD?
In the United States, Nosferatu is distributed by Focus Features, the same company behind Robert Eggers’s previous film, The Northman. The story of the Viking warrior and his path to revenge hit VOD just three weeks after it had opened in cinemas. However, despite The Northman performing well in 2022, its nowhere near Nosferatu’s box office success.
The vampire tale has already earned over $100 million globally, becoming one of Focus’ (and Robert Eggers’) most profitable films. Therefore, it’s likely that the studio won’t rush the movie’s digital release. Based on its initial cinematic release date of Christmas Day in the US, Nosferatu may appear on VOD at the end of January at the earliest.
In the UK, the film debuted in cinemas a week after the American premiere, so its release on VOD may also be delayed. We estimate that Nosferatu may arrive on the services in the first half of February 2025.
When could Nosferatu be released on streaming services?
As a movie distributed by Focus Features in the US, a division of Universal Pictures owned by NBCUniversal, Nosferatu will likely drop on Peacock. For now, however, it’s unknown when that may happen.
The Northman appeared on streaming over six weeks after the cinematic release. Conclave and The Bikeriders, recent Focus hits, arrived on Peacock seven weeks after opening at theatres. Nosferatu may follow that pattern and hit streaming in the US around 11 February 2025.
Films on Peacock typically hit Sky and Now in the UK, but we don’t know for sure if this is the case for Nosferatu.

When could Nosferatu be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
The physical copies of Eggers’ film will likely appear last. However, you won’t have to wait long once the film is released digitally – Focus films usually appear on DVD and Blu-ray soon after their release on streaming services.
If our above predictions are correct, then we could see Nosferatu on DVD/Blu-ray from the end of February 2025.
All these dates are just estimations – we’ll update this article with new information as soon as we have it.
