The latest movie from the John Wick universe has just hit cinemas – Ballerina, directed by Len Wiseman, is ready to spread mayhem in cinemas worldwide.

The film is led by none other than Ana de Armas, whose breakthrough role was in Knives Out, and who went on to make a memorable appearance as agent Paloma in the James Bond film, No Time to Die. In Ballerina, de Armas stars as Eve Macarro, who, as a child, joined the infamous Ruska Roma school of assassins. After years of training, she sets off to avenge her father’s death.

Besides Ana de Armas, the movie features such stars as Anjelica Huston, Lance Reddick, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane and Gabriel Byrne. Fans can also count on appearances from Keanu Reeves, who will once again portray John Wick (since Ballerina takes place between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and Chapter 4, Baba Yaga is still safe and sound).

The star-studded cast and extraordinary action scenes mean that Ballerina is best seen in a cinema. However, if you want to know when it will be available to watch at home, keep reading our article.

How to watch Ballerina now

The Ana de Armas-led movie is currently in cinemas in the US and the UK.

If you want to watch Ballerina in the movie theatre, here’s our guide on where to book tickets.

And if you haven’t seen it, check out the trailer for the film:

When will Ballerina be released on VOD?

Lionsgate, which distributes Ballerina, hasn’t announced when the movie will appear on digital platforms. However, we’ll try to predict the release date based on previous films launched by the studio.

John Wick: Chapter 4, one of Lionsgate’s smash hits, arrived on VOD 61 days after its cinematic debut. However, the relatively successful The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes premiered digitally only 32 days after opening in theatres.

If Ballerina performs well at the box office, it may be released on services like Amazon Prime Video somewhere between Tuesday, 8 July 2025 and Tuesday, 5 August 2025.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and Borderlands, which underperformed at the box office, dropped on VOD 3 weeks after their release in cinemas. Therefore, if Ballerina flops, it may arrive on VOD at the end of June 2025.

Note that these dates are predictions, and we’re still waiting for the studio to announce when the film will debut on digital services.

When will Ballerina be released on DVD/Blu-ray?

Physical copies of John Wick: Chapter 4 were available in stores only 21 days after release on VOD. The less successful film, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, took 56 days to get there.

Flops such as The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare arrived on DVD and Blu-ray 46 days after VOD release, while Borderlansd did so after 53 days.

Therefore, Ballerina may drop on DVD and Blu-ray between Tuesday, 29 July 2025 and Tuesday, 30 September 2025.

When could Ballerina be released on streaming services?

In the US, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes hit Starz three months after arriving on DVD and Blu-ray. John Wick: Chapter 4 appeared on streaming three and a half months after physical copies appeared in stores.

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare dropped on Starz only a month after its DVD and Blu-ray debut, while Borderlands was available for streaming two months after copies hit retailers.

Therefore, we estimate that if Ballerina is a hit, it will arrive on Starz in early winter 2025. However, if the movie bombs, Lionsgate may launch it on streaming earlier, most likely in late autumn 2025.

In the UK the film will most likely arrive on Netflix – but it’s hard to say when that may happen. Stay tuned for more news on that subject.
