After the massive success of other game adaptations such as Mario and Sonic, another film based on a wildly popular brand was only a matter of time. A Minecraft Movie premiered at the beginning of April and instantly conquered cinemas. At the time of writing, the film has already grossed $1.3 billion worldwide, becoming the biggest premiere of 2025.
It seems that Warner Bros. accurately estimated that the game of colourful cubes would capture the imagination of kids across the globe, despite the 48% Rotten Tomatoes critic score. Whether A Minecraft Movie is worthy of its popularity is best judged at the cinema. However, if you want to know when the movie will launch on home media, keep reading.
How to watch A Minecraft Movie now
A Minecraft Movie is out now exclusively in cinemas. If you’re UK-based, you can book tickets on Cineworld, Vue, Odeon and Picture House. Those in America can get them from AMC Theatres and Fandango.

When could A Minecraft Movie be available on VOD?
Warner Bros., who distributes A Minecraft Movie, hasn’t yet revealed any information on the film’s digital premiere. However, we will try to predict when it may arrive on VOD platforms.
A Minecraft Movie is currently a smash hit, storming through global cinemas. Thus, it’s highly likely that Warner won’t rush its digital premiere. Studio’s most successful releases tend to appear on VOD around 46 days after they open in cinemas. However, Barbie, one of Warner’s most profitable films of all time, hit digital 53 days after theatrical release.
Therefore, A Minecraft Movie may drop on VOD between 20 May 2025 and 27 May 2025.
When could A Minecraft Movie be available on DVD/Blu-ray?
Physical copies of Warner’s most profitable movies usually hit stores 28 days after the digital release. However, there are exceptions to that. The aforementioned Barbie appeared on DVD and Blu-ray 35 days after the premiere on VOD, while copies of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice arrived 42 days after the digital debut.
Based on that, we expect A Minecraft Movie to launch on DVD and Blu-ray on 17 June 2025 at the earliest, and 5 August 2025 at the latest.

When could A Minecraft Movie be available to stream?
In the US, A Minecraft Movie will stream on Max. However, UK-based viewers can catch it on Sky Cinema and Now.
For now, it’s unknown when it will happen. Some Warner films hit streaming very quickly – Wonka and Dune: Part Two appeared on Max, respectively, 10 and 7 days after DVD and Blu-ray debut.
By contrast, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice took 17 days to arrive and Barbie took 59 days after physical copies hit stores.
We believe A Minecraft Movie will arrive on Max in the summer of 2025, as it’s a perfect holiday film. At the latest, it may hit streaming in the fall of 2025.
