The Mr. Handsome fan club is growing, so naturally, we want to know more about the freaky Creepypasta-looking slender monster featured in Superman. Director James Gunn didn’t exactly pull from the DC Comics library for this very weird character; though there was a Mr. Handsome villain in Catwoman’s lore, they appear to be unrelated.

This Mr. Handsome is a Lex Luthor abomination. It appears in his pocket universe as the driver of his raft through the various rows of toxic curiosities and curations of the incel-minded mastermind. It also has a brief appearance on Lex’s desk in photo form, so we’re guessing he’s got to be like his only real friend.

On Instagram James Gunn shared that the character is really close to his heart. “When people ask me my favorite character from [Superman] it just might be Mr. Handsome,” he shared and gave the rest of us freaky-faced tall guy fans more background on the DC Studios canon creation, “Lex created Mr. Handsome in a Petri dish when he was 12—he was trying to make a human. He didn’t come out so well, but he just might be the only one in the world Lex has any true sentiment for, as evidenced by the photo on his desk. Our Mr. Handsome was portrayed by the wonderful [Trevor Newlin].”

Actress Sara Sampaio, who plays Eve Teschmacher, also shared some behind-the-scenes photos of her with Mr. Handsome captioned “Mr. Handsome fan club president!” James Gunn’s post featured the same photos and more, which we’ve assembled in the gallery below. And we have to say they really capture the majestic beauty of the misunderstood monster who was doing his one job: to drive his little zero-gravity platform to and fro. He is guilty of nothing else!

Superman is now out in theaters.
