Ultrahuman wants to lure you away from smart rings like the Samsung Galaxy Ring and Oura Ring with what it’s calling the ‘world’s first luxury smart ring’.
Announced at CES 2025, the Ultrahuman Rare is built from 18-carat gold, which is quite the upgrade on the pretty scratch-friendly titanium and tungsten carbide carbon coating used on previous Ultrahuman smart rings and most rivals.
The Rare comes in three models which make up the ‘Desert Collection’ including its Desert Rose ring made from 19k rose gold (above left) alongside its Dune model crafted from 18k gold (above right).
There’s a third ring in the collection and that’s the Desert Snow model, which swaps gold for PT950 platinum (below).
Ultrahuman says the gold used on its Dune and Desert Rose rings has been sourced from the London Bullion Market Association and has been hallmarked by the Bureau of Indian Standards. The Desert Snow ring is made from 95% platinum, with the PT950 platinum used representing the highest standards in the jewellery industry according to Ultrahuman.

Beneath that luxury exterior lies the very same sensors that are included in Ultrahuman’s other less lavishly made smart rings, which includes sensors to track your heart rate, sleep, stress and skin temperature.
The metrics and insights generated by those sensors are still free to access from the Ultrahuman companion app with the price of the Rare unsurprisingly a bit steeper than picking up the standard Ultrahuman ring.
Can you afford one?
Ultrahuman told Tech Advisor the new Rare collection will be launching in early to mid-January 2025, with pricing ranging from £1,500 to £1,800. You’ll be able to purchase it from Paris-based department store Printemps and Selfridges in London.
Ultrahuman also tells us it plans to make the collection available from other locations with hopes of bringing it to stores in New York, Milan and India soon.
Those who have kept a close eye on all things smart ring-related in recent years may recall that Oura collaborated with Gucci for a luxury version of the Oura Ring 3, which included braided detailing and the Gucci logo made from 18k gold.
Ultrahuman is taking things further by covering an entire ring in the luxury metal in the hopes it will make an already pretty likeable, subscription-free smart ring worth spending considerably more than it costs to buy an Oura Ring 4 and any other smart ring for that matter.
