The first Friday the 13th of 2026 is upon us, so why not spend it watching two of the Friday movies?
On the unlucky Friday, Regal Cinemas will play the first two Friday the 13th movies in theaters. With both being a little over 90 minutes, it seems Regal would like for horror heads to watch them back-to-back: io9 checked one location where Friday Part I screenings are to start between 6 and 7:30 PM, and Friday Part II‘s after 9 or 10 PM. Both films aren’t that long—135 minutes for the first, 137 minutes for the second—so it’s doable for those interested.
Neither of the two Friday the 13th movies came out to a glowing reception back in 1980 and 1981, but the original was more mixed than negative like its sequel. Despite that, they were both big earners and made their budgets back: the first film made $59.8 million, and the second did $21.7 million. They may not be a double feature, but the two movies are important now thanks to their central slashers, Pamela and Jason Voorhees.

A24’s been working the Crystal Lake prequel series for Peacock. That show doesn’t currently have a date, but Regal’s teasing “something big” for November, which has the only Friday the 13th of the fall season. Whatever that is, Crystal Lake will be the first longform piece of Friday media to come out in….a while owing to the franchise’s rights issues, so that’s something for fans to look forward to in the fall after these two re-releases have come and gone.
