Trump’s FIFA ‘Peace Prize’ Ceremony Is the New Touching the Orb Meme

President Donald Trump, a man who’s overseen the killings of dozens of people on boats over recent months, was awarded a “peace prize” by FIFA on Friday. It’s was an absurd gesture from the international soccer body to placate our childish president and his disappointment in not winning the Nobel Peace Prize, but at least it briefly gave us some funny memes.

It’s strange when you step back and think about how far we’ve come. During Trump’s first term, the world saw the recently inaugurated U.S. president touching a glowing orb while visiting Saudi Arabia and it was considered unique enough that it lit up the internet for weeks.

President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud (2nd L) and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi (L) put their hands on a glowing orb in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on May 21, 2017. © Photo by Bandar Algaloud / Saudi Royal Council / Handout/Anadolu Agency/Getty Images

It was a memorable photo and if you mention it in 2025, people will probably know what you’re talking about. But we basically get a new orb-level image of Trump each and every day.

In fact, we got several bizarre photos from Trump’s appearance at the FIFA World Cup 2026 official draw Friday at John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Or, as Trump “joked” on Thursday, the Trump-Kennedy Center.

And those images instantly became memes which no one will actually be able to remember by next week. We’re constantly inundated with the weirdest bullshit imaginable on a daily basis.

Some of the jokes have centered around Trump’s creepy face, like when he picked up his medal and placed it on his own neck.

Trump’s new “peace prize” was truly bizarre in its design. So other memes focused on the prize itself, which looked like it was both intimidatingly creepy and somehow printed at a local trophy shop for a little league baseball team.

One Bluesky user replied, “New cursed orb alert,” making the connection we all seemed to make on social media.

Some people made jokes about how the trophy should actually have feet, given that the sport is known in most of the world as football.

And it turns out Trump actually feels the same way about the name football.

Trump: “When you look at football in the US, soccer — we seem to never call it that, because we have a little bit of a conflict with another thing that’s called football. But when you think about it, shouldn’t it really be called football? We have to come up with another name for the NFL stuff.”

The White House is even proud of some of the most ridiculous footage to emerge from the ceremony, like when Trump was dancing along to the Village People. The White House “rapid response” account on X shared a clip.

Trump is a clown whose actions endanger every American. He called Somali-Americans “garbage” this past week and it barely broke through the noise of our ridiculous news environment. And he continues to defend the masked men who are currently terrorizing our cities while also bombing dozens of people in boats to our south. We hit another boat in the Pacific on Thursday, according to Secretary of War [sic] Pete Hegseth, killing four unnamed souls.

What fresh horrors await us next week in the land of Trump? We’ll find out soon enough. But it’s a solid bet that you won’t even remember Trump’s phony “peace prize” by then.
