Has the Buffy reboot found its new slayer? Strange New Worlds‘ Henry Alonso Meyers talks puppet shop with Angel‘s Jeffrey Bell about how to bring puppets to the world of Star Trek. Plus, rumors of Hannibal‘s return are back on the menu. Spoilers get!

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

To mark the film entering production, Tom Holland shared a few more pictures from set featuring Spider-Man atop a large armored vehicle—and revealing the new spider-suit’s large, rectangular chrome web shooters.

Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass

Film Forum has released a trailer for Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass, the first stop-motion animated feature from the Quay Brothers in 20 years.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

According to a report from FearHQ, the new Buffy the Vampire Slayer will indeed introduce a slayer named Nova who must stop a pair of vampires named Jack and Shirley from “raising a vampire army” on the grounds of New Sunnydale.

Nova, a 16-year-old bookworm, discovers she’s a vampire Slayer in a rebuilt Sunnydale, split between gritty Old Sunnydale and upscale New Sunnydale. During Vampire Weekend, a festival celebrating the town’s dark past, vampires Jack and Shirley emerge from a construction site, killing a teen and planning a ritual to raise a vampire army at the Cursed Circle.

Relatedly, Sarah Michelle Gellar has released a video of herself training with the incoming slayer, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, on Instagram.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Speaking of Buffy, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds showrunner Henry Alonso Myers told Entertainment Weekly he had “a bunch of conversations” with former Angel producer Jeffrey Bell on the logistics of filming with puppets in preparation for their own special episode.

I had just socially a bunch of conversations with him about how they did it. That turned out to be not just a silly conversation but a very useful conversation.

Hannibal

Screen Rant reports Hannibal will now stream on Amazon Prime this August 30, rekindling rumors the series may have finally found a home for a potential fourth season adapting The Silence of the Lambs.

Stranger Things

Finally, according to Ross Duffer on Instagram, the fifth season premiere of Stranger Things boasts “the craziest cold open” the show has “ever done.”

Chapters One and Two: locked, mixed, scored, colored, DONE. ‘The Crawl’ is our favorite, most eventful first episode since Season 1. ‘The Vanishing of…’ (yeah yeah you think you know who blah blah) has by far the craziest cold open we’ve ever done. One of the sequences we’re most proud of this season.
