A new version of iOS has been released and it appears to be an important update for many iPhone users.
According to Apple’s release notes, iOS 18.0.1 fixes the following issues on iPhone 16 models:
- The touchscreen may become temporarily unresponsive under certain circumstances on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro.
- Camera may freeze when recording in macro mode with the Ultra Wide camera in 4K, when HDR is turned off on iPhone 16 Pro.
- Messages may unexpectedly end when replying to a message with a shared Apple Watch watch face.
- Performance may be affected due to a memory allocation issue on some iPhone models.
Security patches
iOS 18.0.1 also fixes a couple of security flaws related to the Messages and Passwords apps:
- Audio notifications in Messages could record a few seconds of audio before the microphone indicator was activated. This is now fixed.
- Passwords: An issue caused saved passwords to be read by Voiceover. This has been fixed with improved validation.
