The most-watched film trailer in the ads for Superbowl 59 was for MCU’s Thunderbolts*, the second film in the superhero universe for 2025.
Marvel’s answer to The Suicide Squad sees a group of anti-heroes brought together for a mission, including Yelena Belova/Black Widow, Bucky Barnes and Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, all under the leadership of Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
The Big Game trailer shows that the odds are against them – after all, none of them can fly, just “point and shoot,” as Yelena puts it. Nonetheless, they’ll still have to pull together if they wish to stand a chance at beating the villain… and it’s someone that fans of the comics have waited a long time to see.
Before Thunderbolts* is Captain America: Brave New World, dropping on Valentine’s Day. However, if you’re wondering when you can bag your tickets for this anti-hero team-up, we have everything you need.

When could tickets for Thunderbolts* go on sale?
Marvel has not yet confirmed when tickets will drop, and the last two films in the studio had different approaches.
For the next film, Captain America 4, tickets went on sale on 17 January 2025, just under a month before it arrives in cinemas. Conversely, Deadpool and Wolverine opened bookings just over two months before it dropped.
The latter was a break in the trend. All three MCU films in 2023, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Marvels all dropped tickets around a month before hitting theatres.
Deadpool and Wolverine was the only Marvel film in 2024 and was (rightly) suspected to do incredibly well at the box office, crossing the $1 billion mark. While there is hype for Thunderbolts* at the time of writing, it doesn’t have the same popular draw as the Ryan Reynolds-led series.
Based on that, we expect that tickets will probably drop around 2 April 2025. There is a chance that it could be earlier – should we hear anything from Marvel, we’ll update this article.
