As expected, Xiaomi launched its Pad 7 series of tablets for global markets at MWC 2025 and one particular model caught my eye.
One variant of the Pad 7 Pro comes with a matt screen, and that’s something you can’t even get on an iPad Pro.
The Matte Glass Version has, according to Xiaomi, an “AG nano-texturing process and AR optical coating to eliminate 99% of light interference and reduce screen reflection.”
It reduces reflections by up to 65% and it really works.

The hands-on demo areas at these types of launch event almost always have bright strip or spot lighting which reflect on the screen of whatever device we’re looking at, but not with the Pad 7 Pro.
I couldn’t get any lights in the whole building to reflect on the display and it also boasts a peak brightness of 800 nits.
It looks stunning and makes me want to throw away all my tablets with normal reflective screens. Furthermore, it has a paper-like texture which feels really nice to the touch.
Sadly, although we were given a UK price for the Pad 7 Pro Matte Glass Version or £549 (£100 extra), it doesn’t appear to be on sale in the official store just yet.
