The Traitors season 3 currently has the UK glued to the TV, and fans will be pleased to hear that a brand new celebrity edition of the show is officially in development.
News of the project was first reported by Deadline in April 2024, and the show was officially announced by the creators back in August 2024.
The British edition of the show has been one of the biggest TV hits in recent years, clocking up multiple awards and smashing ratings records.
So far, all three seasons of the British edition of The Traitors have featured ‘ordinary civilians’. However, the American version has already mixed stars with members of the general public, while seasons 2 and 3 featured celebrities exclusively.
It seems that the BBC has decided to follow in the footsteps of Peacock in the US and create a version with big names. Here’s everything we know so far about the brand-new instalment of The Traitors.

When will Celebrity Traitors be released?
The BBC and Studio Lambert haven’t revealed any information on the show’s release date yet, but shooting for the celebrity edition will begin this year.
If production takes place before season 4 (which typically shoots in late summer), then there’s a chance that we could see The Traitors Celebrity in 2025.
The spin-off has been confirmed to consist of nine episodes.
Who is the host of Celebrity Traitors?
You can rest easy because the iconic host of the Traitors UK, Claudia Winkleman, is also set to lead the celeb version of the show.
Who are the contestants on the celebrity version of Celebrity Traitors?
For now, there is no confirmed list of participants in the program – according to information provided by the BBC, casting among celebrities is underway.
Known entertainment leaker SuperTV has reported the list of currently rumoured celebrities, which includes a mix of acting royalty, presenters, comedians, sports personalities and more. They are as follows:
- Bob Mortimer
- Daisy May Cooper
- Charlie Cooper
- Jennifer Saunders
- Alan Carr
- Paloma Faith
- Tom Daley
- Richard Osman
- Clare Balding
- Robert Peston
- Stephen Fry
Earlier rumours also suggested that Courteney Cox could be one of the contestants. The actress appeared in a video published by Claudia Winkleman announcing The Traitors UK season 2. For fans, this proves that Cox is a fan of the show and could appear in its celebrity version.
Mike Cotton, Creative Director Unscripted at Studio Lambert and Executive Producer for The Traitors stated:
We are thrilled to be inviting some celebrities into our castle to come and play the game. Seeing famous faces navigate the round table or don the infamous green cloaks will be unmissable TV, and what a double treat for the fans with Series 4 also confirmed too. There’s a whole lot of exciting treachery and deception yet to come from the Highlands… Claudia’s going to have to pack some extra knitwear.
What will Celebrity Traitors be about?
The formula of the series will likely be similar to the version with ‘civilians’.
Celebrities will be locked up in a castle in the Scottish Highlands, competing for a cash prize. However, a few ‘Traitors’ will be hidden in the group – they will plot and ‘murder’ other participants. Therefore, the ‘Faithful’ will have to discover who the ‘traitors’ are and vote them out of the game.
