The Oura Ring 5 isn’t expected to launch for another year, but a purported leak might have given us an early glimpse of what to expect. Android Headlines claims to have obtained renders of the new health-focused smart ring and a few details about internals and design.

According to “a source” at Oura, Android Headlines says the Oura Ring 5 will replace rose gold with a new color called “deep rose” that appears more bronze, though the smart ring will still be available in black, silver, and gold. Silver will reportedly have a brushed or glossy option, and the matte black option will be called “stealth.”

The blog also claims that the Oura Ring 5 will get a subtle redesign, making the smart ring rounder with a sharper curve, though it’s hard to tell how drastic that extra curve is from the leaked renders. You can see the full batch of purported images over at Android Headlines.

As for what’s new outside of that, it’s hard to say. The purported images show that the Oura Ring 5 will have the same charging case and the same pedestal charger, and Android Headlines says the battery will be about the same as the Oura Ring 4, which can last for between five and eight days on a single charge.

While new colors and a curvier design are fine, Oura users will probably be more interested in any new features. On that front, we’re still somewhat in the dark, though Oura did acquire a startup called Doublepoint this month, hinting at future functionality. Doublepoint, as noted by Bloomberg, is known for developing gesture recognition technology for wearables and VR hardware, which means those same gesture capabilities could be coming to Oura.

In an interview, CEO Tom Hale told Bloomberg, “This is about a core capability that we can imagine as AI and different kinds of modalities and user interaction, as gestures become more and more important,” though he didn’t offer much more than that. For reference, gesture controls are already a thing on competing hardware like Samsung’s Galaxy Ring, though they’re used to control other devices. In the Galaxy Ring’s case, a Samsung phone. Does that mean Oura plans to expand the capabilities of its smart ring? Maybe, but we’ll have to wait quite a while to find out, most likely.
