‘The Odyssey’ Comes Home in November

Before Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey actually hit theaters, eager fans showed a near-obsessive desire to watch it in the biggest and best format possible. The luckiest movie junkies lived in cities where 70mm IMAX screenings happened—and where the stars aligned so that they were actually able to get tickets. But the playing field is about to level for The Odyssey, with a home release date now set for November 17.

That date, as Variety reports, will mark The Odyssey‘s arrival on digital for rent or purchase, as well as its debut on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray—a bit of a switch from the usual procedure of hitting digital first, then physical a few weeks or months later. Another unusual note is that The Odyssey opened back in mid-July, meaning it will have spent a longer-than-average time in theaters before getting a home release.

That’s not surprising, given the format hype and the fact that the movie has been a critical and commercial smash; it’s already occupying one of the coveted spots in 2026’s billion-dollar movie club. So far there’s no word on what special features might be included in the digital or physical release, but given Nolan’s legendary attention to detail, there’ll surely be some worth checking out.

And just because The Odyssey has its home release marked in the calendar doesn’t necessarily mean your days of seeing it on the big screen are numbered. Even after it wraps up its initial run, it seems likely to reappear once Oscar voting kicks off—not to mention making reappearances at theaters from time to time, as Nolan movies tend to do.
